New Senate bill demands full audit of U.S. gold reserves, additional refinement to meet global standards
(Kitco News) – U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) introduced a bill on Wednesday which, if passed, will trigger the first comprehensive audit of America’s gold reserves in decades.The senate version of the Gold Reserve Transparency Act demands a full inventory, audit, and accounting of all transactions involving U.S. federal government gold. It also calls for a new process for refinement of the gold so that it meets global market standards – as the majority of U.S. gold currently does not.

IMF’s multimillion-ounce ‘hoard of gold’ could fund debt relief for African countries – G20 report
(Kitco News) – A new G20-commissioned report is proposing that the IMF sell off some of its massive “hoard of gold” at these historically high prices and use the proceeds to help pay off the crippling debt being carried by African countries.The report was presented to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday, who welcomed the proposal ahead of the first G20 summit in Africa, which will bring around 20 heads of state to Johannesburg this coming weekend.
